The Holidays are a time for friends and love ones to come together. So is staying healthy during the festive season. But for some, staying in touch with loved ones or health care providers isn’t easy.
For the elderly and low-income, having an affordable phone is more than a luxury, it’s a necessity. Assurance Wireless, from Sprint, is a worry-free way for eligible residents to stay connected to the people and services they need.
In participating states, Assurance Wireless provides a free wireless cell phone, 250 minutes of free voice service and 250 free text messages monthly. Customers can also purchase one of several low-cost options to obtain more minutes and text messages if needed.
Enrollment in this program is available to applicants who meet federal or state-specific eligibility criteria. An applicant may qualify for Assurance Wireless if they participate in certain public assistance programs, such as Medicaid or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). They may also qualify based on household income. Applicants must provide proof of program participation or proof of income.
The Lifeline Assistance program is available for only one wireless or wireline account per household. Separate households located at the same address are eligible, including residents of homeless shelters and nursing homes, for example. Residents with temporary addresses are also eligible. Applicants may be required to provide additional documentation if someone else is registered at a similar address with Lifeline service or a temporary address.
