What is this action about?
On October 7, 2010, Sprint settled with the Florida Attorney General’s office concerning third-party mobile content charges. As part of the settlement, Sprint has agreed to provide credits and refunds to Florida consumers who were charged for unauthorized third-party mobile content on their Sprint invoices. Sprint is notifying all of its Florida consumers of this refund program in its invoices or by email for electronically billed customers.
What does the notice say?
This is an important notice regarding the ability of certain Sprint customers in Florida to obtain credits or refunds for unauthorized purchases of third-party mobile content subscriptions, such as subscriptions for ringtones, graphics, and games. Sprint has entered into an agreement with the Florida Attorney General. As part of the agreement, and to cooperate with the Florida Attorney General, Sprint is offering to provide account holders with credits or refunds for unauthorized mobile content subscription purchases incurred after October 1, 2008. If Sprint has billed your account for the purchase of a third-party mobile content subscription that you did not authorize, you may receive a credit or refund of all unauthorized amounts paid. Customers may seek refunds even if they are no longer Sprint customers. Customers must affirm that they did not authorize the third-party mobile content subscription for which they seek a refund or credit, and the charge at issue was incurred and paid for after October 1, 2008. What steps do I take to claim a refund?
Please call the following number to make a claim: 877-544-4076 and select Option 5. Note: Sprint Florida consumers will only receive a credit for unauthorized third-party charges incurred after October 1, 2008.
How long is the refund period open for?
A Sprint Florida consumer can contact Sprint to request a refund until the end of June 2011.
What do I need to do to receive a credit?
You must affirm that you did not authorize the third-party mobile subscription(s) charges.
What if I already received a credit for the charge?
Sprint will not provide another credit for charges that have already been credited to a Sprint account.
