Sprint Drive First Helps Prevent Distracted Driving: Starting Today App is FREE
By Amy Johnsonbaugh
I have a preschooler and toddler and take every precaution to keep them safe. The last thing I want is to be distracted by my mobile phone while driving. That’s why I downloaded Sprint Drive First – an app that disables my phone and stops distracting alerts while I’m driving.
Starting today you can download the Sprint Drive First app for FREE.
Available for Sprint Android™-powered smartphones, Sprint Drive First automatically locks your mobile phone when moving more than 10 mph. It disables phone functionality, directs incoming calls to voicemail and silences distracting email and text message alerts. This helps keep your focus where it belongs…on the road.
Anyone texting the driver will receive an automated, customizable message indicating the person they texted is driving. A locked device displays a home screen with exit and emergency 911 buttons to override the app. Sprint Drive First can be overridden if the user is a passenger in another vehicle, but the parent or account holder can choose to receive notifications when it is overridden.
You can also choose to program up to five phone numbers that ring through when the phone is locked, as well as allow functionality of three apps, such as navigation, music or weather.
When the app no longer detects movement it unlocks and full device functionality resumes. Sprint Drive First also takes into account stop-and-go traffic, so you need to be sitting idle for a few minutes before it will unlock.
Sprint Drive First is just one of many technology solutions Sprint offers to promote better driving behaviors. To learn more about Sprint’s Focus on Driving efforts, visit www.sprint.com/drive.
