Sprint believes that consumer education regarding safe and responsible driving is of paramount importance. Before using your wireless phone, we ask you to take a moment to consider the following tips that will help you use your wireless phones safely and responsibly wherever you are.
- Get to know your phone and its features.
- Carefully assess the traffic and driving conditions. Let calls go to voice mail and do not initiate calls when circumstances are not ideal.
- Take advantage of voice dialing, speed dial and one-touch redial.
- Position your phone within easy reach, and refrain from taking notes or looking up phone numbers while driving. Dial sensibly when conditions allow.
- Dial 911 to report serious emergencies - it’s free from your wireless phone.
- Practice common courtesy when using your phone in the company of others (e.g., simply turn the phone off or silence the ringer).
- Always remember that safe driving is the priority.
How can I use my wireless phone in an emergency?
A wireless phone can help you in an emergency. According to the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association, more than 224,000 wireless calls are placed to 911 and other emergency operators each day in the United States.
With a wireless phone, you have the ability to make calls in an emergency, report a crime or request roadside assistance. 911 calls are free to all Sprint customers.
Please note: Sprint urges its customers to avoid placing non-emergency or accidental calls to 911. While certain phones have an automatic one-touch 911 feature (either the 1 or the 9 button) we urge you to either disable this feature or activate the keyguard function when phone is not in use to help reduce accidental or unintentional calls to 911.
