Customers in Hawaii Benefit from Enhanced Sprint Network

Significant wireless network improvements keep customers connected to the Internet, e-mail, GPS services, messaging, social networks and more

HONOLULU--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar. 12, 2009-- Sprint (NYSE: S) wireless customers in Hawaii are experiencing even better service as a result of local network enhancements. During 2008, Sprint invested $11.5 million in the Hawaii metro market for network expansion and enhancements for its Sprint Nationwide Network and Nextel National Network. During the fourth quarter of 2008, Sprint added 12 wireless cell sites and invested approximately $4.7 million to enhance the Nationwide Sprint Network in Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island.

“Customers in Hawaii have come to expect high-quality voice services and dependable mobile broadband service from Sprint,” said Dale Goya, general manager, Hawaii. “By enhancing network coverage, Sprint is making it even easier for customers to cut the cord on their landline phone to save money and go completely wireless.”

Fourth quarter local network enhancements include:

  • Kilauea, Princeville, Lihue, Poipu and Grove Farm on Kauai
  • Kapalua and Hosmers Grove on Maui
  • Paaloa and Kona on the Big Island
  • Turtle Bay and Kapalama on Oahu

In addition to operating two high-performing wireless networks, Sprint operates America’s most dependable 3G network*, providing customers access to the Internet, exclusive content like NFL Mobile Live and Nascar Sprint Cup MobileSM, e-mail, GPS navigation, and quick access to their social networks at blazing fast 3G speeds.
