Basic Talk ‘n’ Text customers now have access to unlimited plan options at Walmart

WARREN, N.J. (BUSINESS WIRE), June 20, 2014 - Starting tomorrow, payLo by Virgin Mobile will offer customers an affordable choice for domestic unlimited voice or unlimited texting at just $20 per month, available exclusively at Walmart.

For budget-conscious consumers looking to stay connected, but who don’t need a smartphone, payLo offers affordable devices and value-driven monthly plans. Now, customers who purchase a Kyocera Kona or Samsung Montage in participating Walmart stores or at Walmart.com can choose between two exclusive $20/month offers:

  • $20 Unlimited Talk (includes unlimited voice and 50 messages)
  • $20 Unlimited Text (includes unlimited messaging and 50 minutes of voice)

“The no-contract market continues to grow, most visibly with smartphones, but many customers find value with unlimited plans without the extra bells and whistles,” said Angela Rittgers, vice president-Marketing, Sprint’s Prepaid Group. “Through this exclusive offering, payLo is providing the best choice in basic wireless for millions of customers.”

According to the Pew Research Center1, just 18 percent of senior citizens and 8 percent2 of youths ages 12-13 are smartphone users. Many simply need a device and plan that allows them to talk and text affordably. Especially for tweens or younger teens, and their parents, payLo provides a reliable and affordable wireless phone that helps them to be responsible wireless consumers—without breaking the bank and without a contract.

In addition to the two $20 exclusive offerings, Walmart customers can also choose the existing $30 Talk & Text plan or the $40 Unlimited Talk & Text plan. Additional minutes, messages and data will be available at existing rates of $0.10/min, $0.15 for text messages, $0.25 for picture messages and $1.50/MB for web access. A complete list of participating Walmart stores can be found by visiting Walmart.com.
