Portsmouth Can Do More with Wireless: Faster Sprint Mobile Broadband Expands in the Granite State

Extended Network Coverage and Faster Data Speeds Enable Granite State Sprint Customers to Send and Receive Information Fast and Access the Internet in Seconds

PORTSMOUTH, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 19, 2007--Sprint (NYSE:S) customers in and around Portsmouth can do more with wireless, thanks to a faster mobile broadband network. Sprint Mobile Broadband with EV-DO (Evolution - Data Optimized) Revision (Rev.) A technology, combined with a wide variety of EV-DO Rev. A-capable devices, allow customers to send and receive email with large file attachments, access the Internet in seconds and enjoy streaming video and other real-time applications, as well as location-based solutions, on the go.

Sprint's EV-DO Rev. A coverage centers around Pease International Tradeport, and includes Portsmouth, Rye and extends to parts of North Hampton to the south, Durham to the west and Dover to the north. Sprint reaches more than 203 million people, 10,000 cities and 900 airports with EV-DO Rev. A technology and is on track to upgrade the vast majority of its mobile broadband network to the faster technology by year-end.

"Sprint is committed to letting our customers do more with wireless; with the expansion of our EV-DO Rev. A network capabilities, Granite State customers can experience the benefits of faster data speeds on the nation's largest and fastest mobile broadband network in more places than ever before," said John Diefenbach, area vice president, Sprint, New England Area. "In addition to the nearly $24 million that Sprint spent in northern New England (including New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine) in 2006, Sprint continues investments to enhance its powerful networks and expand mobile broadband coverage in New Hampshire, New England and across the nation."

On average, customers using EV-DO Rev. A experience significantly faster upload speeds of 350-500 Kbps (compared with 50-70 Kbps on existing EV-DO Rev. 0 networks) and download speeds of 600 Kbps-1.4 Mbps (up from 400-700 Kbps.) on the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network. In December 2006, Sprint's upgraded mobile broadband network was awarded the coveted PC Magazine Editor's Choice Award selected by a panel of PC Magazine editors and leading industry experts.
