Sprint All-Star Customer Celebration a Hit
30,000 free tickets and thousands of opportunities for behind-the-scenes access claimed by Sprint customers in just 14 days
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 15, 2008--At the first of the month, Sprint (NYSE:S) launched the Sprint All-Star Customer Celebration where Sprint customers were offered more than 30,000 free tickets and insider access to an array of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events May 15-17.
More than 20,000 customers and their guests, representing 49 states, took advantage of the first come, first served, free offer for behind-the-scenes experiences and event tickets. Tickets for insider access, including pit tours, driver introductions, Victory Lane access and shop tours, were spoken for within hours of the site going live. The event tickets, 20,000 free tickets to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and 10,500 free tickets to the NASCAR Sprint Pit Crew Challenge, were claimed in 14 days.
"We had an overwhelming response from our customers to this free offer," said Steve Gaffney, director of sports marketing for Sprint. "We planned to leave the registration site open for the entire month but our customers were enthusiastic about the opportunity; they claimed all 30,000 items in half as much time as we expected."
To continue Sprint's customer celebration theme during the week of the Sprint All-Star Race, Sprint customers will serve as honorary starters, grand marshals and National Anthem singers for the Sprint Pit Crew Challenge, Sprint Showdown and Sprint All-Star Race. Also, votes placed on Sprint phones will count double in this year's Sprint All-Star Fan Vote, which will launch later this month.
"We want our customers to know they are our most valued partners," Gaffney said. "Offering them an opportunity to share in the benefits of our NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race sponsorships is a perfect way to show our appreciation for their loyal business."
Sprint made available 10,500 tickets to the NASCAR Sprint Pit Crew Challenge May 15 at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C.; 1,000 tickets for lunch and a chartered bus ride to behind-the-scenes tours of Hendrick Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing and Michael Waltrip Racing May 16 in Charlotte, N.C.; 20,000 tickets to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race May 17 at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C.; a select number of pit tours prior to the start of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race; and an opportunity for a select number of customers to be stage front for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race pre-race driver introductions and the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race Victory Lane. Customers were allowed to select up to four tickets per category.
Sprint customers were asked to visit Sprint.com, establish an online account via MySprint and log in to register. The offer was available online only. The tickets were available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sprint's customer appreciation is not limited to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race. Sprint offers free NASCAR Sprint Cup Series tickets to customers on a regular basis.
