The participating companies will work on-site at the Accelerator for the duration of the program to build and strengthen their businesses. Each company receives up to $120,000 in funding.
“Sprint is once again excited to bring this world-class accelerator program to Kansas City,” said Kevin McGinnis, vice president, Pinsight Media+, a division of Sprint. “This year’s program is focused on mobile technology, putting it in line with the core of Sprint and Pinsight Media+’s business. Opening the class to mobile technology means we have ten great companies building a wide variety of businesses. Plus, we have brought in two companies from our region’s very strong entrepreneurial community.”
Companies participating in the Sprint Mobile Accelerator are developing solutions that encompass hardware, software platforms and applications that have a mobile technology focus. Eight of the startups have traveled to Kansas City from cities across the U.S., plus India and France.
"We are very excited to be running our third accelerator program in partnership with Sprint,” said John Fein managing director for Techstars. “The 2016 cohort has a few new elements including two local companies and two internationally-based companies.
