Sprint Extends Advanced Wireless Solutions to PODS to Enhance Its Delivery Capability

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Feb 13, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Sprint (NYSE:S) today announced that PODS Enterprises, Inc. (dba Portable On Demand Storage) has deployed Sprint's Advanced Wireless Solutions, a first-in-class, semi-custom approach for companies seeking business-critical mobility solutions. The deployment comprehensively leverages Sprint's unique program, introduced in August 2006, which is delivering tangible benefits to this and other businesses including measurable productivity gains, asset management, rapid return on invest and enhanced customer satisfaction.

The Sprint Advanced Wireless Solutions program offers an enterprise-strength combination of hardware, application software, mobile voice and data usage, professional services, and Sprint-centralized technical support - packaged together for easy deployment and maintenance. It provides a one-stop shop, end-to-end project management, single contract and centralized bill for business customers that takes advantage of Sprint's extensive technology backbone and partner relationships to address specific customer needs such as mobile asset management, sales-force automation, route accounting, fleet dispatch and more.

PODS, the moving and storage company which revolutionized the concept of portable storage containers by offering a storage unit that is delivered and picked up from your front door when filled, recognized the need for accurate and timely tracking of its assets. They selected Sprint Advanced Wireless Solutions for a real-time, wireless, proof-of-delivery system that allows them to track more than 110,000 containers and 1,000 drivers.

This comprehensive solution combines Sprint-enabled devices from Motorola Inc. (Symbol MC9097), a GPS receiver, vehicle cradle to secure the device for safety and charging, and a PODS-designed custom application bundled together to offer many valuable tools for PODS customer delivery and warehouse services. This includes:

-- Asset tracking with barcode scanning,

-- Fleet Management with GPS tracking and Vehicle Inspection,

-- Access to Customer Information to assist drivers when containers are picked up or dropped off,

-- GPS with voice navigation for precise delivery, and

-- Customer signature capturing for contract acknowledgement.

To facilitate asset tracking, each PODS brand container has a barcode inventory number attached. Using Sprint-enabled devices, along with software, a handheld computer with Nextel National Network wireless capability, barcode scanning, image capturing, and a GPS receiver, the driver can accomplish several key tasks using voice-enabled driving directions. The driver receives a wireless dispatch, scans a PODS brand container barcode, loads the container on the truck, gets turn-by-turn voice directions to the delivery location, places the container in its location, and as necessary take a picture of the container to ensure no damage has been done. Once that has been achieved, the driver then captures the customer's electronic signature which enables faster billing cycles, reduction in paper-based manual processes, clerical errors and paper storage costs. Fleet Management is easy with wireless GPS tracking, accident and incident reporting.

"Our technology platform ensures that deliveries and pick-ups are on-time," said Peter S. Warhurst, president and CEO of PODS. "This provides control and visibility into the customer experience from start to finish: from quoting and booking to final delivery, resulting in a worry-free experience for the customer."

Warhurst added, "We selected Sprint's Advanced Wireless Solutions due to its full solution portfolio available for our targeted needs, combined with its expertise in the mobile and wireless communication field."

PODS is implementing Sprint Advanced Wireless Solutions at more than 150 U.S. and Canadian locations. Today, PODS offers service to more than 200 million people in more than 20,000 cities in 46 states, provinces and territories throughout the United States, Canada and Australia.

"We are proud to welcome such a great company to our family of business customers," said Paul Deering, vice president of Sprint Advanced Wireless Solutions. "We look forward to providing PODS with this advanced solution which will increase their productivity and improve their customer satisfaction."
