Sprint Helps Turner Construction Company “Build” Voice and Data Solutions With Ease at Job Sites Nationwide
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – June 26, 2007 – Construction companies continually seek improved ways to quickly move required business tools from one construction site to another. Turner Construction Company, a leader in the construction industry, is deploying an IP-based wide area network (WAN), IP Voice Connect, managed network services and mobility solutions from Sprint at locations across the United States, with just that in mind -- quick and easy setup and seamless integration of voice and data communications tools for Turner employees and contractors.
Turner currently uses IP-based WAN to provide private WAN and dedicated Internet connectivity to more than 80 locations nationwide, and has plans to expand to new locations through this year. Managed network services from Sprint simplify a multi-vendor network arrangement with a Sprint single point of contact for Turner to assist with router configuration and deployment, technical consulting, general network management, maintenance and support, as well as a portal that provides real-time performance information around the clock.
“Converging voice and data solutions on an IP network will bring Turner cost savings by providing a single connection for voice and data solutions,” said Dean Galvin, director of network infrastructure, Turner Construction Company. “Further, we experience productivity gains due to any-to-any connectivity, dedicated Internet access at our remote sites and, for the first time, all Turner jobsites are on the same WAN as our offices. Sprint has the scope and expertise to be well-equipped to handle our business and meet our needs.”
Turner Construction Company was one of the first customers to trial Sprint IP Voice Connect, a voice-over IP (VoIP) service that enhances user experience and simplifies network complexity by combining voice and data communications on a single IP network. This network-based product offers local and long distance services as well as telephony features over Sprint's Dedicated IP or Global MPLS network. After successfully trialing the service in 2006, Turner will deploy Sprint IP Voice Connect in its new sites as it expands nationwide and in existing offices when upgrades are required.
Building on a long-time successful relationship, Turner has been a Sprint customer for more than eight years. Sprint provides wireless services for Turner employees and subcontractors as they benefit from walkie-talkie services available on the Nextel National Network as well as Mobile Broadband services (based on EV-DO and Revision A technology) on the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. Wireless services can be quickly and inexpensively deployed at construction sites to allow for reliable voice and data communications between workers, management and headquarters staff. Sprint and Turner have also put a special discount program in place so family and friends of Turner employees can benefit from wireless services as well.
“Turner Construction Company is experiencing the ease of using Sprint IP-based and mobility solutions for voice and data access which moves quickly with them from one jobsite to another,” said Carolyn Rehling, vice president of enterprise sales for Sprint. “This is precisely our goal; to provide a full-range of communications solutions that evolve as a business grows and their needs change.”
