Sprint Honored Again! Receives Frost & Sullivan Award for Value Enhancement in Consumer Location-Based Services

Latest Award Recognizes Value of Sprint's Variety of GPS Applications and Tools for Developers to Create More Location-Enabled Apps

The company recently received recognition for its popular Any Mobile, Anytime pricing plan, made the largest two-year improvement in customer satisfaction across all industries according to the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index results, and received a 2010 Gartner and 1to1 Media CRM Excellence Award for its customer satisfaction improvements. Now Frost & Sullivan has awarded Sprint the 2010 North American Customer Value Enhancement Award in Consumer Location-Based Services.

The award is based on Sprint's:

Sprint customers can access a variety of GPS apps at a great value

Sprint offers its customers unmatched value in location-enabled applications, with unlimited use of GPS navigation included at no additional charge in Everything Data plans. These plans include unlimited calling to and from any mobile phone in America, plus unlimited text and Web for just $69.99 - the same price AT&T and Verizon charge for unlimited talk only.

A variety of additional third-party location-based apps also are available to Sprint customers. For smartphones, Sprint customers can access downloadable GPS apps through storefronts such as Android Market and Blackberry AppWorld. For feature phone users, GetJar offers a catalog of mobile applications.

Sprint customers have access to a wide range of location-based apps, including:

  • Sprint Navigation, which provides GPS-enabled, turn-by-turn driving directions with 3D moving maps, one-click traffic rerouting, and more than 10 million local listings. Sprint Navigation received a 2008 Mobility Award from Frost & Sullivan.
  • Sprint Family Locator, which enables a parent to use their phone or PC to find the location of a family member, which is displayed on a map along with the address, surrounding landmarks and accuracy of the information within a specified radius. Sprint encourages developers to create location-based apps while protecting privacy

In addition to the wide range of location-based services offered directly from Sprint, the company's industry-leading open approach to working with application developers encourages the creation of additional location-enabled apps from third parties. Sprint invests in technology and processes that enable developers to have access to important capabilities unique to the Sprint network, with an always-evolving Application Developer Program established in 2001. Sprint offers access to more APIs than any other carrier to make their apps richer.

Sprint's Service Enabler program provides developers straightforward tools to create and launch permission-based, location-enabled applications for Sprint customers. The program streamlines the go-to-market process and helps application developers protect customers' privacy and security by ensuring that appropriate permissions are obtained before any location information can be accessed. Sprint's objective is to simplify the certification and on-boarding processes.
