Sprint Nextel's Inclusion Practices Receive Honors from DiversityInc

Company Named One of the Top 50 Companies for Diversity and One of the Top 10 Companies for African Americans

In its sixth successful year of empirically and objectively demonstrating corporate-diversity success, the nation's most credible business list for diversity was released today. DiversityInc announced The 2006 Top 50 Companies for Diversity, and coming in at 39 was Sprint Nextel (NYSE: S). Sprint Nextel was also recognized as one of the Top 10 Companies for African Americans. This is Sprint Nextel's third consecutive year of making the Top 50 Companies for Diversity list and first year of making the Top 10 Companies for African Americans list.

A total of 256 companies, a 100 percent increase over the last three years, competed for a spot on the highly coveted list for the business publication. The list of winners was announced today on www.DiversityInc.com and a more detailed analysis of the winners and the results will be featured in the June issue of DiversityInc magazine.

New this year was the requirement that companies on The DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list demonstrate consistent strength in the four areas the survey measures. Also, more weight was given to CEO Commitment, the most crucial of the four areas measured - the others are Human Capital, Corporate Communications and Supplier Diversity.
