Sprint Offers Customers Protection for Their Smartphone With Norton Mobile Security Lite
Norton Mobile Security Lite seamlessly protects smartphones and tablets from loss, theft and malware
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), April 05, 2012 - Today’s smartphone customers rely on their wireless device for many different activities, including email, music, games, shopping, banking and Web surfing. With more and more information on the device, it is important to protect it from prying eyes or dangerous downloads if it is lost or stolen.
According to a recent study from Symantec, 70 percent of the people who found a lost smartphone tried to access both the personal and business information that was stored on the device.1 Sprint (NYSE: S) and Norton by Symantec announced today that they are providing Sprint customers easy access to Norton Mobile Security Lite to better protect their smartphone from loss, theft or malware.
With Norton Mobile Security Lite, a free security application for Android-based smartphones, customers can remotely lock their smartphone with a simple text message if it is lost or stolen. It scans all files and application updates downloaded to a device and automatically detects and removes threats. Sprint customers using select Android-powered devices can easily download the Norton Mobile Security Lite application from Google Play™ by clicking on the application within Sprint Zone or the Sprint Tab in Google Play. Customers can find Sprint Zone as an icon on their device.2
“Sprint continues to work with industry leaders in the mobile security space to offer our customers best in-class options to better protect the important information stored on their smartphone or tablet,” said Fared Adib, senior vice president-Product, Sprint. “Last year Sprint established a mobile security council, bringing together key players in the mobile ecosystem to address protection, safety and security needs important to consumers and businesses. It also is important to educate consumers about potential risks and to offer solutions such as Norton Mobile Security Lite.”
Norton Mobile Security Lite features:
- Remote Lock: Lets you remotely lock your lost or stolen phone via the Internet or SMS to keep critical data safe and block unauthorized access.
- Antimalware: Scans all files and application updates downloaded to your mobile phone and automatically detects and removes threats without slowing you down.

“We applaud Sprint for providing their customers tools and resources to help protect their mobile lives,” said Dave Cole, vice president-Mobile Products, Norton. “With tablets and smartphones being increasingly used for everyday tasks like banking, shopping and email, consumers’ information is more at risk than ever. Norton Mobile Security Lite provides protection from physical and online risks from the most trusted name in security – giving Sprint customers a secure and worry-free mobile experience.”
