TOKYO & OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 21, 2007--To meet the growing communications needs of multinational corporations, NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) and Sprint (NYSE: S) are collaborating to complement Sprint Global MPLS capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region by interconnecting the two companies’ global data networks. This collaboration will enable businesses to converge data, voice and video on a single, secure network platform with the flexibility and scalability to meet long-term customer requirements.

The agreement allows Sprint to extend its existing Asia-Pacific capabilities and footprint by leveraging NTT Com’s extensive coverage of MPLS-based IP-VPN, a secure and seamless full-mesh global network, to satisfy Sprint customers’ increasing demands for connectivity in this region. Initially, NTT Com will help facilitate connectivity in five countries - the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia - to enhance existing Sprint capabilities. Other countries are planned for addition in the near future. Networks will be interconnected in Hong Kong and Singapore, and service will begin June 1, 2007.

"NTT Com’s highly reliable and secure networks provide a primary connectivity option for multinational corporations doing business in the Asia-Pacific region, where we established strong partnerships with local carriers for stable operation," said Masaaki Takenaka, vice president of NTT Com’s Global Business Division. "We are proud of Sprint’s decision to utilize our service for their enterprise customers’ Asia-Pacific network needs."

"As part of our ongoing global MPLS expansion to wherever our customers are doing business, Sprint is working with regional and global service providers, such as NTT Com, to augment our wholly-owned capabilities," said Dan Dooley, vice president of international and wholesale markets for Sprint. "We believe the complementary nature of NTT Com’s network will significantly benefit our customers through fully managed network solutions with seamless connectivity, security, redundancy and quality of service."

This builds on the relationship established in 2005 to interconnect NTT Com with the Sprint IP-VPN network in the United States, which supplemented NTT Com’s global network coverage previously established in the United States.
