Sprint also honored as a part of Mobile Innovations Bronze Value Chain Award win in home health category with Telit Wireless
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), July 10, 2012 - Sprint (NYSE:S) has been recognized for its part in two Value Chain Awards from Connected World magazine for innovative machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions. ProTransport-1 and enablers Sprint and Feeney Wireless won the Gold Value Chain Award in the transportation category. Mobile Innovations LLC and enablers Sprint, Telit Wireless Solutions and Connected Development won the Bronze Value Chain Award in the home health category.
Connected World presented the awards June 12 during its Value Chain Awards gala. The event was part of the 2012 Connected World Conference in St. Charles, Ill. Connected World’s Value Chain Awards honor the most successful corporate adopters of M2M technology and connected devices and the solution providers that make their success possible.
ProTransport-1 Connected Ambulance
ProTransport-1 and technology enablers Sprint and Feeney Wireless received the Gold Value Chain Award in the transportation category for developing and implementing an innovative connected ambulance solution. The solution equips ProTransport-1 ambulances with location-based wireless connections to ProTransport-1 facilities, databases and staff in northern and central California.
In addition to supporting faster response times, the ProTransport-1 connected ambulance can collect a patient’s vital signs and wirelessly transmits them to emergency room doctors while in transit virtually anywhere. Powered by Sprint wireless, the Feeney Wireless vehicle-ready solution™ helps ProTransport-1 coordinate in-field resources and provides real-time access to critical applications, such as patient information systems and medical diagnostics. Other benefits of the solution include driver behavior reports, preventive maintenance and fuel consumption analysis to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Founded by former San Francisco Bay Area paramedics Elena Whorton and Mike Sechrist, ProTransport-1 is one of the largest privately owned ambulance companies in California. Feeney Wireless is a nationally recognized engineering company delivering M2M and mobile broadband solutions across industries.
Mobile Innovations LLC messageQube
Mobile Innovations LLC and technology enablers Sprint, Telit Wireless Solutions and Connected Development received the Bronze Value Chain Award in the home health category for developing and implementing messageQube, which helps senior citizens stay connected to family, friends and health care providers.
messageQube allows a senior citizen to receive messages wirelessly without the need for computer or cellphone devices, which many seniors find intimidating. Family and friends can send messages and images from their mobile devices to the wireless messageQube device, which the senior can then print out on paper. messageQube is also equipped to support home health monitoring for patients with congestive heart failure, diabetes and other conditions.
The device was created by messageQube founder and chief executive officer Rob Sweeney. Sweeney first conceived the product in 2010, after his 82-year-old mother was hospitalized and required to rest at home. Sweeney developed a solution to help her remain connected to people without having to use a computer or phone. messageQube was introduced to the market in the first quarter of 2012.
Telit Wireless Solutions provides the cellular module for the messageQube solution. Telit Wireless Solutions is a brand of Telit Communications PLC (AIM: TCM), an enabler of M2M communications worldwide providing wireless module technology and value added services including connectivity.
Connected Development, a wireless design company, provided product engineering for the messageQube solution.
“Sprint is proud to be part of these prestigious Connected World Value Chain Awards,” said Wayne Ward, vice president-Emerging Solutions, Sprint. “These are important validations of the ongoing investment we’ve made in our wireless network. Continually improving the network experience has helped us deliver compelling M2M innovation and solutions in key growth segments such as transportation and health care.”
