Sprint Today at Mobile World Congress Americas: September 12, 2017

Notable Quotes from Sprint Executive Speaking Engagements

Marcelo Claure, CEO at The Chairman’s Keynote

  • On the impact of 5G: “The combined U.S carriers are planning to invest close to $275B in terms of building our 5G networks. As we do that, we plan to create 3 million new jobs. …When this is all done, we’re estimating there’s going to add about $500M to the US GDP.”
  • On the need for policy change to support 5G infrastructure: “I had a chance to meet with the President a few months ago and I showed him how small a small cell is. I told him it takes us 1 hour to put in a small cell, but it takes 1 year to get approval. …We’ve got to find a solution, a fast one, if the US wants to be a leader.”
  • On technology disruption and singularity: “We believe the level of disruption that’s going to happen in the world in next 30 years is much larger than what we experienced in the last 300 years. What we’re going to see in this life is something quite remarkable.”
  • On Sprint’s 1Million Project and helping to close the Homework Gap: “One of the most satisfying parts of my job is getting the letters that I get from those kids that basically say thank you for how we’ve been able to change their lives.”

John Saw, Chief Technology Officer at 5G and Cellular IoT Summit keynote

  • “Sprint is the only carrier that can do Gigabit LTE using licensed spectrum.”

Doug Michelman, President, 1Million Project at Digital Education Tools for Sustainability

  • “Learning and studying doesn’t end in the classroom. We’re trying to extend the classroom by providing connectivity at home.”
  • “Students we’re meeting want to do their work on their mobile – anytime and anywhere.”
