OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Sprint (NYSE:S) has received the ATLANTIC-ACM 2009 Global Wholesale Best in Class Award for Data Product Quality. The award marks Sprint’s leadership in meeting the needs of global wholesale partners, particularly within the data product categories of IP transit, MPLS, dedicated Internet access and international transport solutions.

In individual product categories, Sprint received first place for Mobile Voice Termination Quality and Global Hubbing Product Quality. In addition, Sprint performed well in several global wholesale operational categories and received second-place recognition for network and brand. This indicates that survey respondents have a strong perception of Sprint’s network performance for quality and service, and overall brand reputation.

“This important industry distinction demonstrates how much our customers value Sprint’s leadership and differentiating capabilities to serve the wholesale marketplace,” said Dan Dooley, president of Wireline, Sprint. “We’re honored to receive this award and to serve our partners well as we help them extend their footprint to regions of the world where their end customers require strong data capabilities.”

“Customers have left little doubt about the quality of Sprint’s wholesale data products, giving Sprint the highest average quality score across data products, and the Carrier Excellence Award, two years in a row,” said Fedor Smith, President, ATLANTIC-ACM. “Sprint backs up their successive Data Quality awards with admirable feedback in key operations categories.”

ATLANTIC-ACM, a leading telecommunications research consultancy, presented the Global Wholesale Best in Class Awards on Jan. 21 at the Pacific Telecommunications Council conference in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The awards are based on carrier evaluations by hundreds of wholesale buyers. Stemming from research begun in 1995, which has become a critical benchmarking survey in the competitive long-distance industry, the 2009 edition of ATLANTIC-ACM’s Global Wholesale Carrier Report Card awards are based on evaluations by hundreds of wholesale customers. This annual survey asks wholesale customers to rank approximately 15 wholesale service providers in categories that include brand, sales reps, provisioning, network performance, customer service, billing, and numerous product quality and price categories.

Sprint has received a variety of ATLANTIC-ACM awards in the past several years and last year won Domestic Wholesale Best in Class awards for Provisioning and Customer Service (tied with another carrier in this category). Sprint also received two ATLANTIC-ACM 2008 Global Wholesale Carrier Excellence awards, receiving first place in the Brand and Data Product Quality categories.

With more than 16 years of experience in the wholesale business, Sprint delivers a broad range of wireline and wireless solutions that enable the extension of the wholesale customer’s workplace and help employees work more productively and cost effectively.
