Position: Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer

As Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, Yuriko Ishihara uses analysis of trends and developments in telecom and technology, both domestically and internationally, to chart Sprint’s strategy for utilizing technology to enhance customer experience and business growth. She also leads Sprint’s internal strategic planning process and communicates strategic priorities.
 
Prior to joining Sprint in 2017, Yuriko worked for SoftBank Group in a variety of positions serving the Japanese mobile business, including Head of Investor Relations and Finance Ops lead for Network, IT and Product at Vodafone Japan. After Softbank acquired Vodafone Japan, Yuriko served as Director of Treasury leading the refinancing of $12.5 billion related to SoftBank’s acquisition of Vodafone Japan, and as Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to manage the annual budget, the monthly forecast cycle and driving cost reductions. She played an integral part in Softbank’s pre- and post-acquisition processes of Sprint Corporation, reporting to Softbank Group CEO and visionary Masa Son.
 
Before her career in the mobile industry, Yuriko was a Portfolio Manager at a major Japanese institutional investor for more than a decade. She was in charge of various instruments over time such as financial market research & forecasting; real estate investment in France and the U.S.; Japanese & U.S. equity investment, asset allocation and advisory services for pension funds.
 
Yuriko has an Abitur with distinction from Gymnasium Rissen in Germany, an LL.B. from Kyoto University where she also was on the varsity ski racing team, absolved the Economic Institute at the University of Colorado at Boulder’s program summa cum laude, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
