We have been working hard to deliver on our promise of improving the Sprint network and our customers are noticing.

That’s certainly the perspective emerging when RBC Capital Markets recently asked more than 1,000 wireless consumers, the vast majority of whom are customers of the four national carriers, about what they thought of the data performance and voice quality they received.

Sprint made major improvements last year as we continued the rollout of our Network Vision program, which includes a complete upgrade of the 3G network and deployment of 4G LTE. We also launched Sprint Spark, a network capability that uses three spectrum frequencies to deliver peak 4G LTE wireless data speeds of 50-60Mbps.

It’s encouraging to see a new report by RBC Capital Markets, “Wireless Survey Highlights Relative Improvements in Sprint Spark Markets,” that showed our customers are noticing a difference.

“Our multi-market customer survey confirms Sprint management’s assertion that network performance has improved in Spark-launched markets. We found a 13 percentage point improvement in customer perception of data quality and a 17 percentage point improvement in customer perception of voice quality. Los Angeles appears to be the most improved market, ahead of Chicago and New York,” states the RBC Capital Markets report.

As I said at the end of last year, re-engineering our entire network has been a big undertaking, but now it’s offering tangible benefits to our customers. Sprint 4G LTE is now available in 300 markets. Other enhancements are delivering better coverage, faster speeds and stronger voice coverage.

We’ll continue moving forward for our customers. With the announcement of Sprint Spark, the increasing availability of 4G LTE and the improvements we have made to our voice network, we’re full speed ahead for 2014.
